Mission Trip to Pondok Taruna

After several weeks of planning, fundraising and preparing, we were ready!

A group of 16 students, from Grades 9 to 12, and several teachers with a heart for mission gathered early in the morning to set off to be a blessing for the children at Pondok Taruna orphanage. The students at Ichthus School South Campus had run two fundraising events, the water balloon games and a bake sale. I was very impressed of our students’ baking skills, and thankful for the support given by their parents. With the proceeds they were able to buy food, Bibles, and sports equipment for the children at Pondok Taruna.

We started the mission trip with praise and worship, then acted out the story of David and Goliath, and shared about how God helps us overcome the giants in our lives. There was also time for small group discussions, prayers, and activities inside. Afterwards, we moved outside to a makeshift basketball court in the parking lot where everyone had a great time playing basketball and soccer together.

It was beautiful to see our Ichthus students show so much kindness, compassion and enthusiasm during our time at the orphanage.

We are blessed to be a blessing to others. Amen.
